Zaid Thanawala

Zaid Thanawala is a Senior Sustainability scientist at Amazon. He has over 9 years of experience working in various functions within the sustainability space. At Amazon, he was responsible for enabling Amazon Devices to reduce their carbon footprint through Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and qualify them for the Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) badge. He was also responsible for building forecasting models that enable Amazon Devices to predict their future carbon footprint and model carbon abatement actions as part of Amazon's pledge to be Net-Zero by 2040. 

During the course of his professional journey, Zaid has assumed pivotal roles at organizations such as Salesforce, O-I, and Heineken. In these capacities, he helped formulate and implement sustainability strategies, with a specific emphasis on enhancing transparency regarding carbon footprint and facilitating initiatives aimed at carbon reduction.

Zaid holds a BE in Chemical Engineering from India, an MS in Sustainable Energy Technologies from Delft, Netherlands, and an MS in Sustainable Systems from Rochester Institute of Technology.
